Reading this article about the inequities in HIV/AIDS care in PR makes me wonder if being an independista is really a good idea. The NYT does a great job of painting a picture of what it is like for the average individual living with the disease to access treatment. All of the obstacles that hinder patients from receiving care and health professionals from dispensing it is largely due to legislation....politics.
And it begs the question that if PR is suffering this much with US federal dollars, what would it do without it?
